Be sure to review Course Schedule and Assignments also located in the Introductory Block. This document provides a list of dates, course topics and assignments in one convenient location.

Online Class: If you have never taken an online class, you need to be prepared to spend approximately 5 - 9 hours per week online completing lessons, activities, and participating in class discussions. You may spend some additional time online during the first few weeks while you become acclimated to the online class format and you may even feel overwhelmed. Review the following "Tips for Distance Learning" to help make your online experience as painless as possible.

Tips for Learning at a Distance: Learning at a distance will be a very different environment for many of you. You will generally set your own schedules, participate in class activities at your convenience, and work at your own pace. As you begin this learning experience, you might like to incorporate these tips to help you get started!

  • Set yourself a schedule -- check the course web site early in the class week to see what tasks you'll need to work on for the week.
  • Become very familiar with the eLearning web-based management system and how to use it. It contains many tools to help you communicate and learn!
  • Team up with your classmates to discuss class assignments and questions you might have
  • Ask questions when you need answers. Participate in "Discussions" and "Chat" sessions (if applicable) to make the best use of our time together!
  • If you have technical difficulties or problems email me at alexalex3@gmail.com and I will get back to you within 24 hours (this is the worst case scenario, I will usually respond within 2-3 hours)

Important: All assignments for each week of instruction will be due the Sunday of that week by midnight unless otherwise stated. A list of course assignments can always be found on the Course Schedule and Assignments page.

Class Communication Protocol:

Email: You can normally expect a response to your email questions within 24 hours.

Graded Assignments: You can expect to receive a grade and feedback for any graded assignment within 7 days of the due date.

Discussion Postings: I can not reply to every discussion posting but will read every posting and always offer constructive responses when necessary.

Online Office Hours: I will announce my office hours after the beginning of the class:

Required Materials: Consistent Internet and e-mail capabilities: Once you register with the class, you will receive all email in the email account specified by you. Make sure to specify the email account that you use most often.
